A woman has died after falling from a tower block in Newcastle.
Emergency services were called to Grafton House in Byker at around 5.45pm following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
The North East Ambulance Service dispatched a number of resources including ambulances and rapid response vehicles to the scene.
Police and paramedics have been at the block of flats for a number of hours.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "We received a call from the ambulance service at 5.45pm regarding concerns for a female at Grafton House.
"We have attended to make sure the area is safe for the public and assist paramedics at the scene."
It is now understood that the woman has suffered fatal injuries after falling from the high-rise flats.
