A woman has died after her car was submerged in a lake in Co Fermanagh.

One nearby police patrol responded to reports of the car going into the water at Muckross Pier in Kesh on Saturday night.

It is understood the woman, a 55-year-old nurse from the Drumquin area, died on Monday morning after being taken to the South West Acute Hospital.

No further details have been released.

Councillor John Coyle, for Erne North, told Belfast Live: "The whole community is shocked at the loss of this woman's life in such tragic circumstances. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the woman.

"I know the community from Drumquin and Fermanagh and Omagh will gather round the family and support them in their time of grief."
