A woman has died after a quad bike she was riding with an 18-year-old man rolled, throwing her from the vehicle at the Hunter Valley.
Just after 10am on Sunday, emergency services were called to Quince Tree Lane at Congewai, about 18 kilometres south of Cessnock, on reports a quad bike had rolled.
Hunter Valley Police District officers were told an 18-year-old man was riding the quad bike before it had rolled, ejecting the 18-year-old woman passenger.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene but she could not be revived.
The man was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are probing the circumstances surrounding the crash and the woman's death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
