Woman cyclist hit by car as road closed by police

A woman has been injured after her bike was hit by a car in a rush hour crash this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident on Breck Road at the junction with Spindle Close.

An ambulance and police attended after the crash around 8.15am.

Police said a bicycle and Honda Civic were involved and confirmed the female cyclist was tended to by ambuance staff at the scene.

Thankfully police said the woman appeared to have avoided serious injury as a result of the crash which blocked off the road this morning.

The road is now clear.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Breck Road at the junction with Spindle Close at 8.15am to reports of a collision involving a Honda Civic and a cyclist. An ambulance was also called but it is not believed the woman suffered serious injuries."
