A woman has been taken to hospital after being bitten when two dogs started fighting each other this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Toxteth just before 9am this morning.
The victim was taken away in an ambulance after the dog sunk its teeth into her arm as she was caught up in the ugly scenes in Cedar Grove.
Several police cars and a police van blocked off the street after responding to reports that two dogs had started fighting each other.
Police said the injured woman had not suffered life-threatening injuries but was being assessed in hospital.
Neighbours told ECHO reporter Lee Grimsditch at the scene that a large amount of people came outside into the street as the incident took place
One neighbour also described loud voices and swearing and said they saw one person being taken into a police van.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 8.55am, officers were called to an address in Cedar Grove after it was reported that two dogs were fighting and a woman had sustained a bite wound to her arm.
"Emergency services are in attendance and the woman’s injury, described as non-life threatening, will be assessed."
Road closures were put in place while officers dealt with the incident and members of the public advised to avoid the area.
The police have since left Cedar Grove.

A North West Ambulance spokesman said: "We went to an incident on Cedar Grove, Toxteth, at 09.08 this morning. An ambulance took a female patient to hospital."
