NAGPUR: To avenge her break-up, a jilted woman along with her two aides hurled acid at a 29-year-old labourer at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) premises in Kalamna on April 25.
The victim, Ganesh Bhoyar, sustained 20-30% burns on the face and chest. Despite being married, the prime accused tied the knot with the victim at a temple a year ago.
Though the incident occurred a week ago, Kalamna police registered an offence on Friday, citing the victim’s reluctance to lodge a complaint.
The retaliatory attack is being linked to the alleged ‘live-in relationship’ of the victim with the prime accused who is yet to be arrested. Around a year ago, the couple got married at the Koradi temple but drifted apart with Bhoyar living life like a vagabond.
It’s learnt that the woman and her two accomplices, Nitin and Amol, hurled the liquid at Bhoyar leaving his face and chest with 25-30% burns. Nitin was the one who first hurled the acid.
The police are attributing the attack to Bhoyar distancing himself from the woman who stayed in the same locality.
Bhoyar was rushed to a private hospital by his brother who works in the vicinity. The Bhoyar family had kept the matter under wraps by not approaching the police.
According to a senior official, Bhoyar was reluctant to lodge a complaint. It was his mother who lodge the complaint.
Kalamna police station’s senior inspector Gokul Mahajan said that they are trying to nab the woman and her accomplices. “The arrests of the accused would make the matter clearer,” he said.
