Woman and child rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Sandymount

A woman and child were rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in Sandymount on Friday.

It is understood that the pair, believed to be mother and daughter, were hit by a car at the Merrion Gates on Merrion Road at 6.50pm on Friday evening.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Two pedestrians, a woman and female child, were injured after colliding with a car. Both were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

"Investigations are ongoing."
