A woman and a baby have been stabbed during an attack in west London.

Police were called to a property in Swinfield Close, Feltham, shortly after 7pm on Monday evening, Scotland Yard said.

A woman in her 30s and a one-year-old infant boy were found at the scene suffering from stab injuries and were taken to a west London hospital.

The boy is said to be in a critical condition, while the woman's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officers remain at the scene and no arrests have been made.

However, police said they were attempting to trace a man who is believed to reside at the address where the attack took place.

Detectives the suspect in the case and the victims are thought to be known to each other.

London's Air Ambulance also attended the incident and is understood to have landed on the grounds of a nearby school

One local resident said the Oriel estate, on which Swinfield Close is located, had been put on “lockdown” as police hunted a suspect.

“I live right where it happened. We have been told by police to stay in and lock doors as a man is still on the loose,” they told Get West London.

“The estate is taped off, and there is an armed response present.”
