Woman, 48, arrested after car bursts into flames on Glasgow street

A woman has been arrested after a car burst into flames following a road traffic collision in Castlemilk yesterday evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the incident around 7:30pm following reports of a car crash on Drakemire Drive to be met with a vehicle with flames leaping from the bonnet.

Two women aged 48 and 50 were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Now police have confirmed that a 48-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

She has been released on an undertaking and will appear at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called around 7.35pm on Sunday, 2 August, 2020 following the report of a one vehicle road crash on Drakemire Drive, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and two women aged 48 and 50 were taken to the QEUH.  A 48-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. 

"She has been released on an undertaking and will appear at a later date."
