Wolves contact FA amid Liverpool demand as replay date confirmed

'No more' - Julen Lopetegui makes Liverpool demand after Wolves send letter to FA

Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui has said he will speak “no more” about the controversial match with Liverpool, but has confirmed the club have written to the FA.

The Reds were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with Wolves in their FA Cup third round tie at Anfield at the weekend. However, a third goal was scored by the visitors in the closing stages, only to be ruled out for offside.

The goal was checked by VAR and it was later revealed after the match that the goal could not be awarded due to a lack of available camera angles at Anfield. It was reported on Tuesday that Wolves would write to the PGMOL, the governing body accountable for officials in England, and their chief Howard Webb about the decision.

Now Lopetegui has spoken again about the incident, and confirmed that Wolves have been in contact with the FA about the disallowed goal.

Liverpool FA Cup replay date confirmed as final possibility emerges

Liverpool have discovered when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers for their FA Cup third round replay - for what could prove their final such fixture in the competition.

The Reds will be at Molineux on Tuesday, January 17 (kick-off 7.45pm) for a game that will be shown live on BBC1.

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah both found the target in an action-packed 2-2 draw between the teams in the initial tie at Anfield last Saturday evening.

Liverpool have already been eliminated from the FA Cup twice before by Wolves under Jurgen Klopp, losing 2-1 at home in the fourth round in 2017 and by the same scoreline away in the third round two years later.
