With Terry McLaurin limited, the Redskins promote WR Cam Sims from practice squad

According to ESPN’s John Keim, wide receiver Cam Sims has been promoted off of the practice squad, and onto the 53-man roster for the Washington Redskins.

Sims was one of the last players to be cut from the 53-man before the regular season started, and he was predicted to have a spot throughout the preseason, until a few poorly-time drops caused his stock to plummet. The Redskins decided to keep rookie Steven Sims instead.

Now, with Robert Davis being released by the team, Washington is making room for Sims, who had a breakout training camp last season as a rookie. While rookie receiver Terry McLaurin was limited in practice on Wednesday after being held out of Sunday’s game, it’s possible that Washington is bringing in Sims to have an instant impact. We’ve seen him succeed in the Redskins program before.
