Witcher 3’s next-gen versions are not in trouble, insists CD Projekt Red

Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red made the somewhat unfortunate decision to delay the next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 until further notice. However, the company insists development isn’t in a dire state.

During CD Projekt Red’s most recent financial earnings call on Thursday, senior VP of business development Michał Nowakowski clarified that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3 aren’t in any trouble.

“I’ve been looking at the headlines that popped up here and there over the internet, and I’ve seen one that really drew my attention, which is, ‘Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely,’ which sounds like the game is in some sort of development hell,” Nowakowski said via PC Gamer. “I want to state this is not the fact. There’s been a lot of insinuations that we’re going to launch, like, June next year or something like that. That’s completely not the case.”

Speculation regarding the new versions of The Witcher 3 has been running rampant ever since. In fairness, CD Projekt Red’s initial statement below spoke in very vague terms, and the ports have been delayed multiple times already.

“The game is going to be finished in-house. We’re evaluating our time, that requires a bit of investigation—that’s all we’re saying. Nobody’s saying the game is delayed [with] some monumental time gap ahead of us. That’s as much as I can say about [Witcher 3] next-gen, but I really want to emphasize that fact.”

Guess we’ll see how this all pans out in time.
