Victor Wanyama says winning the Champions League is Spurs’ destiny.
He feels their dramatic quarter-final victory over Manchester City has given Mauricio Pochettino’s men the belief that they can go all the way.
The Kenyan midfielder was on his knees with the rest of Tottenham ’s players when it seemed Raheem Sterling’s injury-time effort had sent City through.
But VAR came to the rescue – and now the Londoners will face Ajax in the first leg at the new Tottenham Stadium on Tuesday night.

He said: “With this mentality, I believe we can be champions. When we fight and stay together, then no one can beat us. We have shown that against City and it means so much to us that we are still in it.
“Every player dreams of this. They all want to be here and, hopefully, it doesn’t stop here.
“For sure, we showed character against City. It showed that we don’t stop, that we will never give up, that we will always fight until the end.
“We were put in very difficult circumstances, but fought our way through.
“We showed we could scrap and get something from it.”

Tottenham lost 4-3 at the Etihad, but Fernando Llorente’s controversial effort sent them through on away goals.
The Spaniard appeared to bundle the ball home with his arm, but got the benefit of a VAR decision.
Then Sterling’s strike was ruled out when a freeze frame showed Sergio Aguero had strayed offside.
Wanyama said: “When VAR checked our goal, I was nervous enough.
“With their goal, you’re just not sure, you do not know what is happening.

“I thought they had scored. I was down, lying on the floor and thinking it had gone.
“There was not long left and I was about to get up for the kick-off in the middle and I just looked up, saw the scoreboard saying, ‘VAR, no goal’.
“From then, it was, ‘Yes, fight on, fight to the end’.”
Wanyama added: “Ajax have a very good team, but we believe in ourselves. It will be a good game.”
