THE winners of an award ceremony to celebrate Asian performers at the Fringe Festival this year have been announced.
The Asian Art Awards, which were founded by Dr Chris Wang in 2014, take place each year to showcase and recognise the best Asian talent at the international arts festival in Edinburgh. and took place on August 20 this year.
The awards ceremony aims to promote harmony around common values while bringing people from all over together to celebrate art together.
A folk rendition of the Scottish classic 500 Miles sang by Bruno Bazinet and Juniper Lai in Chinese, English and French helped to kick start the evening which saw artists from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia all pick up awards.
Chelsea Zhou, who is a trustee of the Asian Art Fund Scotland, which is the charity that runs the awards, hosted the evening along with the deputy chief of the Fringe Festival Lyndsey Jackson.
The Asian Art Fund Scotland is a charity which aims to promote the best Asian talent the country has to offer and the award ceremony each year is one of the best opportunities for the charity to showcase them.
One of the top acts to impress the judges on the evening was The Legend of the White Snake, who delivered a “spellbinding” opera in the ancient Chinese “Kunqu” style.
