Wine shops and bars to remain closed

All wine and toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants shall remain closed on Sunday in wake of Sri Rama Navami festival, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said in a statement on Saturday.

Bars in star hotels and registered clubs, however, will be exempted from the 24-hour restriction starting from 6 a.m. on Sunday.

The orders were passed for preservation of public peace as per section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968.
