Wimbledon 2026 continues today, with Iga Swiatek and Serena Williams in action, but Jack Draper will not feature.
The leading light of the home hopes, Draper made a positive comeback from a persistent arm injury at the Eastbourne Open last week, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Ugo Humbert.
He was watched by his new coach Sir Andy Murray, who was set to be in Draper’s player’s box for as long as the Briton stayed in the draw.
He was handed a tricky opening test aganist American sixth seed Taylor Fritz on Centre Court, but he will now no longer feature after announcing his withdrawal on Monday.
He confirmed that his arm injury had flared up once more, and as such, it meant that he could not play at the All England Club this summer.
It followed on from his compatriot Emma Raducanu who confirmed her withdrawal from the Championships late on Sunday night due to a stress fracture in her lower right leg.
Serena Williams headlines the day’s play, last on Centre Court, as she returns to singles after a four-year retirement.
The 41-year-old, a seven-time champion on the hallowed turf, was the final wildcard entry in the women’s draw.
Defending champion Iga Swiatek opens proceedings against doubles specialist Taylor Townsend on Centre, and Alexander Zverev, the newly-crowned French Open winner, follows as he takes on Alexander Blockx.
Katie Boulter is now one of the last British players in either draw, and she opens her campaign on Court No3 against Tyra Caterina Grant.
