Wimbledon 2025 LIVE: Jack Draper vs Marin Cilic latest score and updates

In action: Jack Draper - (Getty Images)

Wimbledon 2025 LIVE!

Jack Draper returns to action at Wimbledon this afternoon as he takes on Marin Cilic. The British men’s No1 is bidding to reach the third round at SW19 for the very first time in his ascending career, having made a confident start to the week against Argentine Sebastian Baez, who retired hurt on Monday evening while trailing 6-2 6-2 2-1.

Now the world No4 faces a potentially tough test back on No1 Court against veteran Cilic, the 2014 US Open winner who reached the final at Wimbledon in 2017, losing to Roger Federer in straight sets. The Croatian, 36, recently provided a reminder of his enduring grass-court abilities by defeating Shintaro Mochizuki to win the Nottingham Open, breaking one of Andy Murray’s long-held records in the process.

Cilic had little trouble against Raphael Collignon in the first round at the All England Club on Tuesday, brushing aside the Belgian World No85 in straight sets 6-3 6-4 6-3, and now he’ll be hoping to upset the home favourite on a week of shocks in west London. Follow Draper vs Cilic live below, with Standard Sport’s Dom Smith at Wimbledon.

GAME, SET AND MATCH CILIC -- Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 4-6 Cilic

19:33 , Dom Smith

Cilic inexplicably misses a routine putaway when approaching the net. It’s 15-0 but ought to be the other way.

Draper looks a little distracted and strokes into the net for 15-30.

But he adjusts brilliantly to a Cilic shot with clipped the tape, delivering a drop shot with the Croat can’t get back over. 30-30.

But as he nets again it’s match point to Cilic...

And his shot hits the tramlines meaning he’s out. It’s a great shame for Draper, who has still never got past the second round. Cilic goes on.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 4-5 Cilic

19:26 , Dom Smith

Stunning ace from Cilic to start his surface game off with a bang. 125mph but felt like more.

And then another. His 16th ace of the match already.

Skewed by Cilic for 30-15, and soon it’s 30-30.

But Cilic shows his class and holds again. If he can break Draper next, he’ll have knocked the world No4 out.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 4-4 Cilic

19:22 , Dom Smith

At 15-30 there are some cries from Croatians in the court who sense this could be Cilic’s moment to break Draper and look to serve out the match.

And so a loud cheer is the response from the British contingent. Draper shanks the ball high into the summer evening’s air, offering up TWO break points to Cilic.

ACE - the first is saved.

And a punch of the air as he saves the second, prompting deuce.

Tight call on Hawkeye shows Cilic has missed and it’s advantage Draper. He takes it with an ace. WOW. What nerve...

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 3-4 Cilic

19:18 , Dom Smith

Cilic makes an excellent start with a serve and winner combination.

An unreturned serve brings the Croat to 40-15, where he looks to close out with another.

On a second serve that Draper can’t return, he does. Game Cilic.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 3-3 Cilic

19:13 , Dom Smith

Draper looking decisive now and moving well, working up to a 40-0 lead on serve and not looking like being broken at present.

But Cilic has other ideas and earns two points back, and then ALL the way back with an extraordinary point where he is made to approach the net to chase a drop shot he never looks like making but does. And finds a winner. Deuce.

Cilic nets. Advantage Draper. He gets over the line.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 2-3 Cilic

19:07 , Dom Smith

Draper is unhappy as a Cilic serve lands JUST in, by millimetres, but you can’t argue with technology in this game. Not anymore, anyway.

Cilic thunders a winner down the line for 40-15.

And at 40-30, the two exchange blows at the net with Draper coming out on top to force deuce. Now, can he break?

Not exactly. Cilic hits an ace, and then Draper fires too deep. Game.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 2-2 Cilic

19:01 , Dom Smith

Draper gets up and running with a powerful ace and then hits another unreturned serve, but not before telling the umpire that someone moving in the crowd was distracting him.

Cilic is not about to give up this fourth set lightly and hits a fine winner to halve the deficit to 30-15.

But it grows again with another unreturned serve from Draper.

Game Draper.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 1-2 Cilic

18:57 , Dom Smith

Excellent, flat winner down the line from Cilic, which Draper can’t get to. 30-0 to the 36-year-old.

And there are cheers from the Croat’s box as he serves out two consecutive aces to hold serve to love. That was dominant!

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 1-1 Cilic

18:55

Draper holds serve to get off the mark in the fourth set as Cilic nets with the crucial point. Now to receive...

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 0-1 Cilic

18:52

Cilic moves to 40-0 on serve as Draper can only return his serve into the net.

But he then watched the Croat go long.

The chalk flies up off the line McEnroe-style as Cilic finds a super winner and takes the first game of the fourth set.

GAME AND THIRD SET DRAPER -- Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1 Cilic

18:48 , Dom Smith

Draper goes 0-30 down on serve before turning it around with an ace and then a line winner. And he edges ahead with an ace. Set point!

Cilic can’t return his serve, and the third set is Draper’s. On he fights!

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 5-1 Cilic

18:44 , Dom Smith

A double fault to start from Cilic, but then he gets up and running and with a fine crosscourt winner is 30-15 ahead.

Draper’s return lands in and Cilic’s return does not, and now Draper has a break point.

A stellar ace from Cilic kills it, but then another is gained by Draper. And he takes it. A double break and he’ll serve for the third set!

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 4-1 Cilic

18:37 , Dom Smith

Superb work by Cilic to send Draper to the back of the baseline and then play a backhand slice into the open court for a 15-15 winner.

Draper then coaxes Cilic to the net and the Croat misses. But Draper plays a poor drop shot into the net and Cilic has taken him to deuce.

Smashing ace from Draper. And another!!!!

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 3-1 Cilic

18:33 , Dom Smith

Fine, fine point from Draper, raising a few spectators off their seats after he bypasses Cilic on the Croat’s net approach.

Now then! Draper takes the ascendency of the following point and pummels three or four potential winners at Cilic. He gets all of them back but his last return is into the net. 0-30 then.

And when Cilic nets again, it’s 0-40. THREE break points.

The first is saved thanks to a gloriously well-placed forehand, and the second too.

After a time violation warning for Cilic for taking too long to serve, Draper takes the next point and has broken the Croat!

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 2-1 Cilic

18:27 , Dom Smith

An ace sets Draper on his way on serve - or so he thinks. Instead, Cilic bends in an excellent winner, before netting. 30-15.

Ace. 40-15.

Draper holds serve and leads marginally in this third set.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 1-1 Cilic

18:24 , Dom Smith

Smashing ace from Cilic for 30-0, and soon enough it’s 40-0.

A decent rally ensues, but it’s the Croat punching the air and celebrating at the end of it as he holds to love... again.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 1-0 Cilic

18:21 , Dom Smith

Draper leads 40-0 and thinks he’s home and dry in the third set’s first game but Cilic’s return is in, and Draper then nets for 40-15.

He gets over the line, though, and is off the mark in a set he MUST win.

GAME AND SECOND SET CILIC -- Draper 4-6, 3-6, Cilic

18:17 , Dom Smith

Raucous cheer as Draper gets all his body behind a two-handed backhand winner for 0-15, but then comes one of the highest-quality points of the entire match, Cilic its unsurprising winner for 15-15.

Ace.

Unreturned serve.

Unreturned serve. He takes the second set, and plenty within Court 1 have had enough and now leave...

Draper 4-6, 3-5 Cilic

18:13 , Dom Smith

Draper works up a 30-0 lead, but his service games haven’t been routine of late and it looks as though this won’t be either - Cilic with a forehand winner for 30-15.

Hang on, though. A lovely Draper ace makes it 40-15... before he then nets for 40-30. Close.

Draper serves it out and stays in the second set here at Wimbledon.

Draper 4-6, 2-5 Cilic

18:09 , Dom Smith

Stunning winner, crosscourt, from Cilic as he moves 40-0 up on serve in a second set in which he has just looked so dominant.

And as I type that, a brutal ace completes the hold to love and moves the 36-year-old a game away from a two-set lead. Draper, if he didn’t know it already, is in real trouble.

Draper 4-6, 2-4 Cilic

18:06

Draper hammers a serve down which Cilic can’t return, prompting audible cheers around the court. The same is true of the next point, when he approaches the next and Cilic nets.

He holds serve, and that’ll be a real boost of confidence.

Draper 4-6, 1-4 Cilic

18:03 , Dom Smith

Draper simply looks up at his box and shrugs. “What can I do?” he’s asking. And fair enough.

He’s 40-0 down on the Cilic serve at the time, and what follows is a thunderous ace for a hold to love by the 36-year-old.

Draper 4-6, 1-3 Cilic

18:00 , Dom Smith

Every point Draper wins at the minute is gaining a loud applause here on Court 1, where the British public know he’s in a match and a half.

He gets himself to 40-15 on serve, and from there is able to hold serve with a clean volley crosscourt. Off the mark in the second set.

Draper 4-6, 0-3 Cilic

17:56 , Dom Smith

The first point of a crucial Cilic service game goes Draper’s way as the Croat double-faults, but Cilic then wins another exceptional point that offers a reminder of just how good a player he still is at 36 years of age. The 2014 US Open champion, of course.

However, Draper then has to field calls from the crowd of “bring it back Jack” as he goes 40-15 down. He misses his return of serve and suddenly it’s three games to love to Cilic, with the Croat already a set in front. It looks ominous for the world No4.

Draper 4-6, 0-2 Cilic

17:52 , Dom Smith

Draper needing the support the crowd out on Court 1 are trying to give him here, and at 15-40 down, he doesn’t get much luck, deciding to leave a Cilic reply and hope it lands out but watching as it skips off the line. He is broken, again.

Draper 4-6, 0-1 Cilic

17:49 , Dom Smith

A double fault from Cilic sees Draper back into the game at 30-30 - and then a break point arrives, but Draper’s return of serve goes JUST long, and it’s deuce.

The 23-year-old will know this would be an ideal time to break serve, but Cilic turns the game around so well again and it’s a hold of serve from the Croat to start the second set off.

GAME AND FIRST SET CILIC -- Draper 4-6 Cilic

17:42 , Dom Smith

The 36-year-old wins a sensational point for 0-15, before approaching the net decisively to volley away for 0-30. It now feels like it’s Cilic who is the player pushing hardest for a break of serve!

Stonking return from Cilic and now it’s 0-40, and soon enough it’s a break TO LOVE as he hammers a winner past Draper, who can do nothing about it. First set Cilic!

Draper 4-5 Cilic

17:38 , Dom Smith

It feels like it’s all going Draper’s way at the minute as Cilic’s return clips the net cord and misses for 0-15. But then it’s Draper’s turn to net. 15-15.

At 30-30, there’s an untimely slip and miss by Draper for 40-30, and then Cilic holds once more.

Draper 4-4 Cilic

17:34 , Dom Smith

Draper faces peril on serve as Cilic comes out swinging on the Englishman’s serve and gets to 0-30 up.

What follows is a smashed winner across court which brings Cilic three break points.

Two aces from Draper, and when a third service is returned out by Cilic there’s a large roar from the Brit. Deuce.

Another blistering serve moves him to advantage. He holds!

Draper 3-4 Cilic

17:27 , Dom Smith

Draper senses his chance to break at 15-30 on the Cilic serve, and again when Cilic shanks into the tramlines for 30-40 and offers up a break point.

It’s saved.

Cilic eventually holds, but Draper is knocking on the door here.

Draper 3-3 Cilic

17:21 , Dom Smith

Really convincing service game from Draper, who serves it out with a thunderous ace down the T to hold to love. That’s a very good sign.

Draper 2-3 Cilic

17:17 , Dom Smith

Superb point from Cilic to begin this game off, the Croat on full attack and forcing Draper further and further back before firing a winner into the open court.

A 134mph serve from Cilic is out, and so is his second serve, so Draper moves to only 30-15 behind. Cilic’s play is just too good, though, and he sees the game out with a 136mph ace.

Draper 2-2 Cilic

17:14 , Dom Smith

Draper halts his first serve until some members of the crowd have belatedly taken their seats. The umpire is not impressed with them.

Patience pays off as Draper plays an unreturned serve and then wins a long rally for 30-0.

Quite a few close calls in the early games of this first set and another comes. Draper thinks the shot is out but replays show Cilic has hit the line.

Then 40-15, but the next point is won by Cilic is a fine crosscourt forehand winner, real power behind it. Deuce.

Draper nets and now faces a break point, which is saved as Cilic nets a return of serve.

Draper holds, at last.

Draper 1-2 Cilic

17:05 , Dom Smith

A double fault from Cilic gifts the Brit a first point, and he has another when a return that looked out is not called as such as Hawkeye replays show it hit the line.

Then a fine backhand winner down the line from Cilic keeps him in touch on his service game. It’s then 30-30 when Draper’s shot is called out and the replay shows it to be, well, probably the tightest call I have ever seen at Wimbledon. Perhaps a millimetre or two.

Draper nets and Cilic is 40-30 up.

Game Cilic.

Draper 1-1 Cilic

17:01 , Dom Smith

Cilic slices into the tramlines and gets Draper back level at 15-15.

40-15 soon enough, once Cilic returns serve into the net. He gets lucky with a clip of othe tape which brings him the point. It’s now one game all.

Draper 0-1 Cilic

16:57 , Dom Smith

Cilic begins with an ace, before putting away a fine crosscourt winner to bring up 30-0 in the match’s first game.

An ace brings Cilic into a commanding lead at 40-0, but Draper slaps a return of serve right back at the Croat, before netting to ensure Cilic holds.

Draper is in the second round for the third time but has never reached the third round at Wimbledon. As world No4, he’ll be expected to... today.

Draper vs Cilic head-to-head record

16:27 , Oli Gent

This is the first time that the pair have faced off, but let’s compare the two’s run-ins to this year’s Championships.

Draper had just the one grass-court warm-up tournament before Wimbledon, losing in the semi-finals of his home event at Queen’s Club to Jiri Lehecka.

As for Cilic, he dropped down to the Challenger Tour to prepare on the turf.

He lost in the second round at Ilkley to Zachary Svajda, but made up for his early exit by claiming the title at Nottingham, beating Shintaro Mochizuki in the final in straight sets.

Standard Sport prediction

16:22 , Oli Gent

Although Cilic is now in the twilight years of his career aged 36, the Croat is still a real threat, especially on grass.

With his huge serve and forehand one-two punch, he can do serious damage to Draper if the Briton is not careful, and he was one of the unseeded players that many of the top-ranked men would have least wanted in their bracket.

However, Draper was hitting through the ball well against Sebastian Baez in his opening round, and can take confidence from getting that first win under his belt.

This will be a tricky affair, where two generations of tennis collide, but the home favourite should be winning this one, despite the fact that Cilic reached the final here back in 2017, and has two Queen’s Club titles to his name.

Draper to win in four sets.

Other results at Wimbledon today

Draper flies the British flag in the men’s draw today, as Dan Evans was swept aside by Novak Djokovic first up on Centre Court, losing in straight sets to the seven-time champion.

Iga Swiatek is in action now against the American Caty McNally, while in the women’s draw, seventh seed Mirra Andreeva and former champion Elena Rybakina are both safely through, preceding Draper on Court No1.
