Wimbledon 2025 LIVE!
We will see a newly-crowned champion of SW19 this afternoon as Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek face off in the ladies’ singles final on Centre Court. It is a growing trend for those who lift the Venus Rosewater Dish in west London, with the previous seven winners also being first-time champions.
No13 seed Anisimova, a 23-year-old from the USA, is in her first Grand Slam final, and takes on the former world No1 in Swiatek, who has four French Open titles to her name but previously struggled to replicate that form on grass having never been past the quarter-finals at Wimbledon until this year. A 6-2 6-0 win over Belinda Bencic in the semi-finals suggests it could be her year.
Anisimova will be confident over her own chances having prepared for the tournament by reaching the final at Queen's Club last month and then beat world No1 Aryna Sabalenka over three sets in her semi-final. Both players pose for photos
17:30 , Dom SmithThere are smiles on the faces of both players as they pose for photographs at the end of a final neither will be forgetting in a hurry.
Here is the Princess of Wales
17:15 , Dom SmithThe procession begins, and soon the Princess of Wales will present the Venus Rosewater Dish to Swiatek, but first a huge cheer for Anisimova the runner-up.
GAME, SET AND MATCH SWIATEK -- Anisimova 0-6 0-6 Swiatek
17:10 , Dom SmithSwiatek is serving for the match, gets to 15-15, and then offers up a gettable volley for Anisimova. The American closes in but cannons the ball too far.
With an ace on the net point off serve, Swiatek has two match points. She fails to take the first, hitting a forehand way long. Then with a fine rally in the net, she finds the net superbly. Anisimova can only watch. She has lost the Wimbledon final 6-0 6-0. Swiatek has won it for the very first time in her career. It literally could not have been more one-sided.
Anisimova 0-6 0-5 Swiatek
17:04 , Dom SmithAnisimova’s body language remains so negative, and who can really blame her? The American is 0-30 down on her serve and dangerously close to not taking a single game of this final as she then hits long and offers up two break points at 15-40. The first is taken, and it’s now 5-0...
Anisimova 0-6 0-4 Swiatek
17:00 , Dom SmithBeyond the baseline with a simple-enough forehand from Swiatek, so that’s 0-15, but Anisimova then hits a net shot into the tramlines on approach, so it’s 15-15.
Swiatek then nets under little pressure and it’s 30-30 on her serve. Anisimova attempts a winner off the subsequent first serve but can only find the tramlines. 40-30. Then deuce.
A long rally ensues, which Swiatek wins when Anisimova hits just long. But then Swiatek double-faults and it’s deuce again. The five-time Grand Slam champion’s level has just dropped off slightly.
As I say that, she produces a 119mph ace. Anisimova puts a flailing racquet out, but she cannot get purchase on Swiatek’s shot, and it’s another hold of serve for the Pole.
Anisimova 0-6 0-3 Swiatek
16:53 , Dom SmithSwiatek is really pushjng for a second break, and Anisimova’s two winners mean little if she can’t get her first serves in (which she can’t) and keeps double-faulting, which she does.
And sure enough, when Anisimova nets on break point, Anisimova is broken again. There is now a decent chance she fails to win a single game in this final. Everyone on Centre Court is willing her on to get one over the line.
Anisimova 0-6 0-2 Swiaek
16:46 , Dom SmithSwiatek is 30-0 up when she produces her first double fault of the match, before only being able to watch as Anisimova fires a fine winner past her for 30-30. A chance of a break back here for Anisimova?
With a crosscourt backhand she hits long and is 40-30 down, and Swiatek has the fine touch at the net to then claim the game and head two up in the second set here on Centre Court.
Anisimova 0-6 0-1 Swiatek
16:42 , Dom SmithSwiatek gets the better of Anisimova from a long rally in the first point of the second set, and soon 0-15 is 0-30 and there is trouble on Anisimova’s serve once more.
Anisimova digs in and gets back to 30-30 with a lovely drop shot, celebrating it with a roar, but then goes break point down. Swiatek takes it, and has an early break in the second set...
GAME AND FIRST SET SWIATEK -- Anisimova 0-6 Swiatek
16:36 , Dom SmithAnisimova strikes a forehand beyond the baseline, just, and it’s 30-0.
But while she loses the next point too, it’s the first proper rally in what feels like 10 minutes or more. With a very tight call, but miss, from Anisimova, Swiatek serves out the first set 6-0 after winning her service game to love again.
Anisimova 0-5 Swiatek
16:32 , Dom SmithIt’s getting quite tough to watch for Anisimova at the moment. She is broken to love and trails 5-0 in the first set, her confidence shot and clearly nerves getting the better of her.
The American 13th seed is struggling to portray positive body language as this first set gets further and further out of reach. Swiatek now to serve for a donut.
Anisimova 0-4 Swiatek
16:29 , Dom SmithAt 15-15, Swiatek miscues a forehand and it flies up and lands out for 15-30.
However, Anisimova then hits into the net with three shots she should really be making, and chastises herself after each one. It’s 4-0 and she’s finding things really difficult right now.
Anisimova 0-3 Swiatek
16:25 , Dom SmithThe crowd are trying to gee Anisimova up at the moment, and when Swiatek hits crosscourt into the tramlines, it’s 40-15 and she is looking good for her first hold of serve.
But Swiatek has other ideas and fires a cannon backhand down the line for 40-30.
And there’s an amount of resignation in Anisimova’s body language when she hits into the net to take the game to deuce.
Swiatek is just too powerful with one crosscourt shot to take advantage Anisimova back to deuce, and soon she has break point. And with a double fault, she has been broken again! It’s a nightmare start from the American.
Anisimova 0-2 Swiatek
16:17 , Dom SmithSwiatek works up to a 40-0 lead in her first service game.
She then nets, but when Anisimova’s shot is called out, Swiatek holds to consolidate that early break. The American HAS to hold serve next...
Anisimova 0-1 Swiatek
16:13 , Dom SmithAnisimova is under pressure right from the off in the very first game, jarring a forehand and then stroking into the net twice to hand Swiatek three break points right from the off.
The first real rally of the match follows, and she gets the better of it, stroking into the corner of the net with a super winner.
But when she hits into the tramlines, she is broken in the match’s first game...
The match begins!
16:10 , Dom SmithAnd the final is underway! Anisimova serves.
Lots of celebs here
16:09 , Dom SmithIt’s like a who’s who on Centre Court today.
Just spotted David Walliams taking his seat near to where I’m sat. And in the Royal Box you’ll find Stanley Tucci, Keely Hodgkinson, Lisa Nandy MP, and of course the Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Club.
Players are here for the warm-up!

Standard Sport prediction
15:38 , Dom SmithHowever incredible Anisimova’s rise has been - knocking out Aryna Sabalenka, the world No1, and all - it is hard to look past Swiatek, who has won in straight sets in every round bar the first.
For the first time, Swiatek may just win arguably the biggest title there is in tennis. That said, Anisimova should be good enough to get a set under her belt, if not get over the line in the end.
Standard Sport prediction: Swiatek to win, in three sets.
Head to head (H2H) record
15:24 , Dom SmithThis is the very first time that Swiatek and Anisimova have faced off at professional level.
HOWEVER, they did face each other nine years ago in a 2016 Junior Fed Cup match - Swiatek the winner, 6-4 6-2. Could that be a lucky omen for the Pole today?
