Willian makes bold Frank Lampard prediction following his appointment as Chelsea head coach

Frank Lampard today took charge of his first game as Chelsea head coach at Stamford Bridge following his summer appointment.

Making a big impression in his year at Derby County as they missed out on promotion in the Championship play-off final, the club's record goalscorer was named as the man to replace Maurizio Sarri in the hotseat.

His start as head coach may not have got off to the start he wanted after defeats against Manchester United and Liverpool and a draw against Leicester City, yet the Blues have performed well in all three games and may have won them on another day.

Willian is one player who is pleased to see his former teammate back at the club and he has predicted that Lampard could even go on to become one of the best coaches in the world.

"My motivation to succeed here us still the same as it was when I arrived," he told the club's matchday programme. "In football, I think you have to want to improve and to prove yourself every day.

"I look forward to waking up in the morning, going to training because I want to win more trophies with Chelsea.

"I think we have a good chance to do that again this season. Frank Lampard has come back to Chelsea as our head coach, and it is an exciting time.

"He was one of the best midfielders in the world when he player here and, as well as a great player, he is a great person, a great man.

"I think he deserved everything he achieved here and now, as a coach, he can do even more.

"I think he can do so well because he was a very intelligent player and now he can be one of the best coaches in the world too.

"When he came here with Derby County last season in the cup, the atmosphere was amazing.

"I think this year we will see something special in the atmosphere in the stadium, but not just that. The boss knows the club, he knows the philosophy of Chelsea, he knows the atmosphere of the club, so everything is in our hands.

"I feel it will be a good season for everybody here."
