Netflix fans have binged their way through Ratched, the new Netflix series from Ryan Murphy starring Sarah Paulson.
The show jumped to number one in the UK after its release, and the eight-episode season shocked and engrossed fans with its dark and mysterious content.
The series tells the story of Nurse Ratched, the infamous character from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, before the events of the famous novel.
But will we be seeing more of Nurse Ratched in future? Read on to find out.
Will there be a season two of Ratched?
There will. In September 2017, before the first season of Ratched had even gone into production, Netflix gave the show a two-season order, winning a bidding war over Hulu and Apple, who were reportedly also interested in developing the show.
Created by Evan Romansky, the series was reportedly given an 18-episode order, implying the second season will run for an extended 10 episodes.
Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it is uncertain when season two will go into production, with Paulson telling Variety that “nobody knows anything about season 2”.
“Ryan (Murphy), with the number of things he has going on, who’s to know when that’s all going to begin, and you throw in the pandemic and then we think, ‘well who knows?’
“I look forward to actually just being Mildred Ratched again and looking at some of these faces.”
With the entire cast joining after the two-season commission, it can be assumed most if not all stars will return for the second season.
Cynthia Nixon, Finn Wittrock, Sophie Okonedo, Sharon Stone, Alice Englert and Judy Davis star alongside Paulson in the series.
