Scots have been urged to stay at home as part of new lockdown measures imposed earlier this week.
Only essential businesses, such as newsagents and supermarkets, can remain open under the new rules.
It is hoped that the restrictions will help curb the spread of coronavirus as the number of new cases continues to spike across Scotland once again.
The measures introduced from midnight yesterday are similar to those implemented in March last year.
Questions marks have yet again been raised over the definition of an essential business during this period.
Many motorists have particularly been left wondering if their local garages will still remain open.
During the last full UK-wide lockdown, garages were allowed to remain open to provide “essential repairs and services”.
And that appears to be the same for this one as well, with car repair and MOT services listed as businesses that can remain open.
However, the rule does not mean that all garages must stay open.
Some may choose to close in a bid to protect staff and customers from the virus, so it is worth checking in with your local repair centre.
But the majority of these businesses have been Covid-secure during much of the pandemic, with social distancing measures and hand sanitiser stations in place.
Vehicle owners were given a six-month exemption from MOT testing during the first national lockdown in March last year.
There is currently no indication of the scheme being repeated this time round.
Car showrooms will remain open under the lockdown restrictions.
