Will Dissly logs banner game at site of last year’s injury

Seahawks tight end Will Dissly, like many Seattle players, was likely dreading the trip to Arizona Week 4. Last season in the desert, Dissly suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Cardinals and sat out the rest of his rookie year on the injured reserve.

“It did (go through my mind), yeah, for sure,” Dissly said Sunday. “But in warmups, I went and caught that same fly route, and I turned up (the sideline) and ran, and I said, ‘Hey, my knee works.’ From that point on, I put it behind me and I was ready to play the game.”

Dissly proved to be more than just ready in Arizona, logging seven receptions on eight targets for 57 yards and a touchdown. He led all Seattle receivers against the Cardinals and posted career-high game numbers. But the road to recovery was not an easy one.

“Will has never stopped rehabbing,” coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “He’s in the weight room. I go in there every day before I go to practice and he’s in there every day and he’s working on the same stuff he needs to work on so that he can secure his recovery. He’s done a perfect job of returning but, better than that, he’s not just satisfied with that. He’s working to be better. He’s a great Seahawk.”

Dissly and rest of Seattle’s squad have just days to prepare to face their next divisional foe when they take on the Rams Thursday night at CenturyLink Field.
