Will Bayley returns to Strictly Come Dancing to perform for first time since injury

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were thrilled during tonight's live final as former contestant Will Bayley was given one last moment in the spotlight and returned to the dance floor.

The Paralympian, 31, was forced to pull out of the hit BBC One dance show in November after suffering from a sudden injury during rehearsal.

The contestant devastating waved goodbye to his hopes of raising the Strictly Glitterball trophy after discovering his shock leg injury could take up to six months to heal.

Tonight's show saw the star's highly-anticipated return as he joined the rest of the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 cast for the series grand final.

Viewers took to social media to praise the star after watching him take to the dance floor for the first time since his injury in the star-studded group dance.

One user wrote: "So happy to see Will Bayley in the group dance as well."

While another shared: "WILL BAYLEY BACK ON THE DANCEFLOOR."

Another viewer said "Will I've missed you", while another revealed they were happy he was getting "the love he deserves."

Other viewers took to social media to call for the star's return to the show with one suggesting he should star on the Christmas special in a few week.s

Meanwhile one fan commented: "Would have been interesting to see how far Will could have gone had he not got injured."

Will issued a statement in which he confirmed his time on Strictly Come Dancing was over at the beginning of November.

He said: "I'm gutted my Strictly journey has had to come to an end. I've loved being part of the show, and am so grateful for the phenomenal support we have received.

"I want to say a special thank you to Janette for believing in me, and giving me the confidence to believe in myself.

"The things we achieved, from our couple’s choice dance, through to the lifts in our salsa, will stay with me forever. I’ve had the time of my life.”

Tonight's grand Strictly Come Dancing final saw Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse win Strictly 2019, after an epic live final on BBC One.

The dancing champions beat fellow finalists Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke and Amy Dowden and Karim Zeroual to claim the Glitterball Trophy.

Kelvin teared up as he opened up on his show experience, and his big win.

He told host Tess Daly : "I'm speechless, I did not expect that, it's just been such a privilege to be here."

Kelvin added: "I want to thank her for the most amazing experience of my life. I feel so proud to be a part of this, from the bottom of my heart thank you."
