Wilfried Zaha's assessment of Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Man Utd

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's form is no surprise to his former Crystal Palace team-mate Wilfried Zaha who insists he always knew the defender would be this good.

Manchester United spent £50m on the right-back last summer even though he'd only played one full season.

But Wan-Bissaka has proved to be a worthy investment and a shining light in an inconsistent season at Old Trafford.

Zaha, who is another product of the Eagles academy, insists those at Selhurst Park knew the 22-year-old was destined for the top, but its nice to see him getting the recognition.

“He is very good, so hard to get past him," he said on Instagram.

“Have I watched him at United? I've watched a few games, what I thought of him is what I thought before.

“Everything that people are saying now - calling him 'The Spider' - we knew before, it is just that he is playing in front of the world now.

“We were saying it all before but it is nice to see the world know it now.”

Zaha himself had a spell at Old Trafford after leading Palace to promotion in 2013.

It didn't go how he planned however with his opportunities at a premium and he eventually headed back to south London.

The forward rose to prominence at a young age meaning he celebrated a decade as a professional recently - a landmark he claims is "crazy"

Zaha said: “I remember every single one of my games like it was yesterday. 10 years is mad.

“It is emotional watching the videos back because those are some of the best moments of my career. I appreciate all the love from the club.

“All I remember is getting up from the bench and being so happy to be stood there coming on the pitch.”
