Wilfried Zaha offers free accommodation to NHS staff fighting coronavirus crisis

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is playing his part to help ease the strain on the NHS amid the growing coronavirus crisis - by offering free accommodation to health workers.

Zaha has called on NHS staff to reach out to the company he co-owns, ZoProperties, as doctors and medical workers continue to battle against the deadly disease which has wreaked havoc all over the globe.

The property firm, which Zaha co-owns with Obi Williams, has around 50 apartments which range from one-bed to three-bed in locations around London.

And Premier League superstar Zaha is offering the housing for free to NHS workers in his bid to help fight the global pandemic.

Williams told the Standard : "I've seen things on the news, I have friends who have family members who work in the NHS and my son was born in an NHS hospital and they were just amazing.

“If there is anything we can do to help obviously we would do it. Now it is time to stand up for everybody, anyone who can help it is time to stand up.

"Anyone who has empty rooms at all in London, they need to do something. They can't just leave their rooms empty whilst people are in huge predicaments as the whole country is right now.

"If you have any kind of accommodation available and empty for whatever reason, everyone should put their rooms up for key workers at this moment."

Meanwhile Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs will give health workers free access to their hotels from this weekend in a show of solidarity during the coronavirus outbreak.

The former Manchester United duo own the Stock Exchange and Hotel Football in Manchester and will close both properties to the public from Friday, giving access to 176 beds to medical staff.

Neville also guaranteed that none of the staff at the hotels would be made redundant or forced to take unpaid leave as the pandemic threatens a tough few months for the hospitality industry.

Chelsea have also opened the Millennium Hotel at Stamford Bridge to NHS staff for an initial two-month period.
