Wilfried Zaha has message for Crystal Palace fans after Liverpool defeat

Wilfried Zaha insists that Crystal Palace will win more matches than they lose if they continue to perform like they did against Liverpool.

The Eagles caused problems for the Premier League leaders at Selhurst Park, with Roberto Firmino netting a late winner for the Reds after Zaha had scored an equaliser late on.

Palace also had a first half goal disallowed, after the video assistant referee (VAR) spotted a foul as a corner came in, before James Tomkins scored from close range.

But Zaha said that Palace had plenty to feel good about, despite the defeat.

“There’s loads of positives to take from that game, we played against the best team in the league right now," he told Palace TV after the game.

“I think we will win more than we lose if we play like that, and I’m confident that the boys will come back [from this] and we will pick up points in the games ahead.

“We were unlucky, but we have to be happy with the performance and hopefully in the next game we can get all the points that we can."

Zaha's strike against Liverpool was his first goal of the season, with the Ivory Coast international finishing off a fine team move that also involved Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke.

And Zaha said it was a relief for him to end his goal drought as he outlined his ambition ahead of the busy festive period.

“Yeah it was to be honest, Chris [Benteke] gave it to Andros [Townsend], and the reverse ball was a good ball, I didn’t really expect it, but it was a good move and luckily I managed to score," he said.

“It feels like forever [since I last scored] and I’m glad to finally get on the scoresheet really, and hopefully there is more to come.

“It’s obviously going to be hard, but it is a chance to pick up some points [over the next few weeks] and I feel like with performances like this we will win more than we lose, so I’m looking forward to it.”
