THREE wildfire warnings have been issued as parts of Scotland face prolonged periods of dry weather.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), in collaboration with the Scottish Wildfire Forum (SWF), has issued "very high risk" warnings across the Eastern Highlands, Eastern Scotland and Southern Scotland.
The warnings are in place from Wednesday, August 12 until Thursday, August 13.
The warnings come just weeks after a major operation was launched to manage a wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park which devastated more than 25 squared kilometres.
Four weeks since the fire started, crews remain on the scene dampening down the area.
Dry weather exacerbates the risk and potential damage caused by wildfires, but the majority are sparked through human behaviour, such as improper use of disposable barbeques, dropping cigarettes or leaving shards of glass on dry vegetation.
Head of operational delivery at SFRS and SWF chair, deputy assistant chief officer Kenny Barbour, said: “It’s extremely important members of the public exercise extreme caution and think twice before using anything involving a naked flame during a wildfire warning.
“These fires place a huge drain on our resources and pose a threat to the safety of our firefighters and members of our communities."
