Station Officer from Greystones Fire Station, Ciaran Hayden, told The Irish Daily Mirror that they hold a parade and wreath-laying ceremony every year in memory of both men.
He also recalled memories of Brian Murray who he had trained with.
"He was a real fireman's fireman if you know what I mean. He absolutely loved every part of of his job."
Mr Hayden also revealed Brian had built up friendships with firefighters abroad and had been involved in fundraisers for firefighters affected by 9/11.
The "community-minded" dad had even travelled over several times to the Bronx in New York to meet a crew called Rescue 1 who he became friends with.
