Why Wes Anderson and Gene Hackman clashed on set of Royal Tenenbaums

Director Wes Anderson has revealed that Gene Hackman was "furious" about the flat fee salary for the cast of The Royal Tenenbaums.
Hackman was reportedly reluctant to do the 2001 film and didn't say goodbye to Anderson after filming.
Anderson acknowledged that the pair had "friction", attributing it to Hackman's displeasure with the project and possibly the director’s younger age.
Despite initial dislike, Hackman eventually appreciated the finished film, though he admitted to not understanding it during production.
Bill Murray corroborated Anderson’s version of the experience, describing Hackman as "really rough" on Anderson during filming.
