Why was Triple H with Donald Trump?

Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the chief content officer for WWE, visited US President Donald Trump on Thursday for a significant announcement, adding a dash of WWE flare to the White House this week.

Triple H representing WWE was among a number of well-known professional athletes that attended the historic policy announcement.

The 56-year-old also made his famous water splash entrance at the White House in one of the most surprising political and professional wrestling crossovers.

Here’s why Triple H joined Trump at the White House.

Why was Triple H with Donald Trump?

Triple H joined US President Trump at the White House for the signing of a new executive order to expand the Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

The event, which included former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, golfer Bryson DeChambeau, and Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, among others, took place as the US gets ready to host the 2025 Ryder Cup, 2026 FIFA World Cup, and 2028 Summer Olympics—all of which are significant feathers in Trump's cap for his second term.

Many of those well-known people attended Trump in the Roosevelt Room at the White House to officially join the council. They are all very close to the president.

The meeting also formally re-established the Presidential Fitness Test, first introduced by President Lyndon Johnson in 1966, creating school-based programs that reward “excellence in physical education” and developing criteria for a Presidential Fitness Award.

The test, which was given by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, revives the fitness challenge that was given in public schools between 1966 and 2012, with the top-scoring students receiving presidential honours.

In 2012, former President Barack Obama replaced the test with the FitnessGram, an evaluation that emphasises enhancing personal health over exceptionalism. The Clinton and Bush administrations had already made a number of modifications.

Pull-ups, sit-ups, a shuttle run (moving back and forth between two points), standing wide jumps, a 50-yard run, and a softball distance throw were all part of the initial exam, which was based on an Eisenhower administration program. Over time, certain changes were made, such as removing the softball toss and adding longer running choices.

President Trump commended Triple H's work in promoting health and fitness and recognised him as a long-time friend during the ceremony.

“He’s a man who you’re not going to mess around with... It’s a great honor to have [him],” Trump said.

A key figure in sports advocacy Triple H reflected the importance of encouraging fitness in the younger generation. He briefly spoke about instilling lifelong habits of health and physical activity.

Triple H also struck his famous water spray pose at the White House, which went viral very fast on social media.

In reference to the wrestler's well-known entrance and Trump's campaign slogan, the official White House social media account shared the video with the tagline, “ARE YOU READY… TO MAKE AMERICA FIT AGAIN.”

The video, which depicts Triple H spitting water into the air outside the White House door, provoked online outrage for what many saw as improper conduct at a national symbol of government.

One user tweeted: “This is disgusting. Spitting outside the White House. @TripleH SHAME ON YOU!!!”

Another user added: “This isn’t WrestleMania. This is the White House. Read the room.”

While a third user echoed the same thoughts: “Disrespectful, despicable and deluded.”

Why was Triple H with Sadiq Khan last year?

In June of this year, London Mayor Sadiq Khan addressed Triple H during a panel a discussion at SXSW about bringing Wrestlemania, the largest event in the wrestling promotion, to London.

“I’d love for WrestleMania to come to London,” Khan told CNBC’s Tania Bryer. “Triple H if you’re watching, we want WrestleMania to come to London.”

It came as Mr Khan held talks with Levesque in July of last year about bringing the sporting event to London.

“I'm really excited to have begun conversations about bringing international WrestleMania to London,” Mr Khan told the PA news agency at the time

“I know there are many fans in London and across the UK and Europe who are desperate to see WrestleMania live.”
