Why was there are a heart in the sky in Newcastle on Sunday? Mystery explained as locals speculate

There was some mystery around Newcastle on Sunday evening, when a heart appeared in the sky above the city, leaving locals to speculate why it was there and who was responsible.

With bright blue skies surrounding Tyneside, just as Elton John arrived on stage to bright sunshine down the road in Sunderland, the plane trail was very visible as people who were in and around the city at the time quickly took photos and videos which were then shared on social media.

The heart was seen over the water in Gateshead too, with people flocking to Twitter after they saw it. Uploading their photo of the heart, one local posted: "Watched a plane drawing this heart shape in the evening sky over Newcastle/Gateshead tonight. Magic," and another tweeting: "Gateshead sending Newcastle a big heart emoji in the sky."

A short time after the heart was spotted in the sky, it became apparent why it was there and it was all down to an event being held by a well known North East celebrity.

Why was there are a heart in the sky in Newcastle on Sunday?

The heart was drawn in the sky to celebrate Charlotte Crosby's gender reveal. The Geordie Shore star and ex Celebrity Big Brother winner was joined by friends, co-stars and family as she and boyfriend Jake Ankers found out the sex of their first baby together.

And, after deliberately avoiding finding out the baby's gender at all of her scans, Charlotte was delighted to find out she is having a girl.. Charlotte and her nearest and dearest gathered in plush city centre rooftop bar Above for the party, which was captured on camera and it expected to feature in the upcoming Geordie Shore reunion series and a new show Charlotte is filming for the BBC about her pregnancy.

Charlotte was embraced by mam Letitia as pink confetti filled the air around them and Charlotte screamed: "It's a girl!"
