Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet president Donald Trump at the Nato summit in Ankara, Turkey, this week.
Zelensky intends to press the alliance for interceptor missiles after Ukraine was unable to down any of the ballistic missiles fired by Russia on Monday.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that all 29 ballistic missiles launched by Russia overnight into Monday struck their targets, primarily Kyiv, due to a critical shortage of interceptors.
Zelensky criticised the 'nonsensical' lack of scaled-up production of interceptors due to Patriot missiles being the only effective defence against ballistic projectiles.
President Donald Trump stated that a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine is 'getting closer than people realise' and will be a topic of discussion at the Nato summit.
