You know you’re living in 2025 when a homemade antipasto salad can spark a worldwide debate and get the police involved. If you’ve missed the latest TikTok drama, don’t worry — this isn’t just another “neighbourhood squabble goes viral” story. It’s the tale of a new neighbour, a misunderstood invite, a salad that never stood a chance, and a platform that turned a backyard barbecue into a full-blown spectacle.
What happened with the antipasto salad TikTok drama?
Nicole, who goes by @folkmedicineremedies on TikTok, had just moved to a new neighbourhood and was trying to do what most adults dread: make friends.
She accepted an invite to a 4th of July gathering at the Hicks’ house, hosted by Jake and Stasia. Like any decent guest, she didn’t come empty handed, bringing along a homemade antipasto salad, that in my humble opinion, looked fucking incredible.

Instead of a warm welcome, Nicole says she was met with side eyes and death stares. In her video, she explained, “I walked in with my salad and just felt like I’d made a massive mistake.”
She added, “I was absolutely humiliated. This is why you don’t make friends in your thirties.”
Jake, the host, reportedly looked at her as if she’d just let herself into the Queen’s private quarters. Stasia told Nicole she shouldn’t have just walked in, and the whole vibe was less “welcome to the neighbourhood” and more “who let you in”?
Nicole high-tailed out of there, LEFT THE SALAD BEHIND, and did what any self-respecting crashing out diva would do: filmed a TikTok in her car about the whole thing.
TikTok’s reaction to the antipasto salad diss
Nicole’s video struck a nerve and went absolutely viral. It is now up to 33 million views at the time of writing, with TikTokers flocking to the comments to share their own awkward welcome stories or just to pick a side.
“They were definitely being mean just to be mean stranger or not,” said one user.
“That behaviour says more about them than you. Don’t you DARE feel humiliated! You sound like a beautiful soul. People just aren’t human anymore these days. It is NOT YOU!” said another.

Stasia, not to be left out, posted a response video. She insisted it wasn’t a party, just a “gathering of people who knew each other”.
Totally queen.
Her video lasted 22 minutes before being deleted, but not before it was immortalised by TikTok’s army of screen-recorders. She claimed Nicole was only after views, and that Jake had already apologised.
Stasia’s mother-in-law even jumped in, doubling down on the “not a party” angle and briefly uploading Ring camera footage before deleting it too.
Receipts, recordings, and Ring cameras
Nicole came prepared. She posted texts from Samantha (the mum who invited her) confirming the Hicks knew she was coming, plus a photo of the now-famous antipasto salad.
She also shared a phone call with Jake, who first claimed ignorance, then admitted he thought Nicole was just dropping off her son.
Jake’s mum added her own TikTok, insisting it was a “cookout for the neighbours”, not a party. At this point, the only thing more confusing than the guest list was the definition of “party”.
Enter the police (yes, really)
Things escalated when a special agent left his card on Nicole’s car, wanting to question her and her husband about alleged “threats” to the sheriff’s office. Nicole and her husband denied it, and when the agent played the voicemail in question, it was obvious the voice wasn’t theirs.
Some TikTokers speculated about impersonation, but there’s no proof. Just your standard neighbourhood drama, now with a law enforcement subplot.
Justice for the salad
While some commenters thought Nicole might be milking the situation for views, most sided with her — or, at the very least, with her antipasto. The Hicks’ frosty reception was widely panned as a social fail, and the “not a party” line became a running joke. The real crime though, in my opinon, was letting a perfectly good antipasto go uneaten.
In lighter news, Nicole has kindly offered her antipasto recipe to the world, so I guess there is a happy ending here.
