Mateusz Klich says he is 'comfortable' playing in the defensive midfield position for Leeds United, but admits his preference is to be nearer the opponent's goal.
The Pole was moved into a deep-lying midfield role during Leeds' 3-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend after Pascal Struijk was subbed off 21 minutes following an early booking.
What followed was one of the finest second-half team performances under Bielsa so far at Leeds and with Kalvin Phillips still sidelined with a shoulder injury, Bielsa again faces a decision over who replaces the Thorp Arch graduate on Monday evening when the Whites host Aston Villa.
Klich, who has start all-but one league game under Bielsa since the Argentine's arrival in 2018, is willing to play there, believing that the player in that role can have a big influence on the game.
"I think my first position is number eight, but then second position is number ten," Klich told LUTV.
"If I had to play there, I could play number four. I feel very comofrtable there as well because obviously you have more of the ball and can dictate the play of the game but you're far away from the goal. I think I'd rather be close to the goal, but I could play there as well.
"I think you have to operate a bit more responsibly than at number eight or number ten, because you are closer to your goal and losing the ball or being disposed is basically like a counter attack and very dangerous zone.
"It is different, but I can play there. I quite like it, but it's difficult to score from there."
Klich sees Monday night's clash against Leicester as potentially similar to Leeds' last home match, where they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Wolves.
“I think it will be a very similar game to the Wolves game,” Klich continued.
“I watched Leicester versus Arsenal, they had three centre-halves and played on the counter-attack.
"We have to do better this time and score goals.
“Against Wolves, everything was fine but we missed chances and lost the game in the end, so we need to improve on that."
