Why Manchester United player Victor Lindelof left the training ground

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is a doubt for the Premier League visit of Burnley on Wednesday night due to illness.

Lindelof, 25, arrived at United's Carrington training complex at 9.55am on Tuesday morning but left 15 minutes later. United staff sent home Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial within 15 minutes of arriving at their training ground the day before the FA Cup third round trip to Wolves earlier this month and neither made the trip.

United travelled to Wolverhampton the night before their goalless draw but are expected to link up at The Lowry Hotel at Wednesday lunchtime ahead of the evening kick-off at Old Trafford. United prefer not to have unwell players on site.

If Lindelof is unavailable, Solskjaer could retain Luke Shaw, who started in a back three at Liverpool on Sunday. Eric Bailly returned to the first-team squad for the first time in nearly six months and Phil Jones was an unused substitute again. Fellow centre halves Axel Tuanzebe and Marcos Rojo are still sidelined.

Lindelof has started all but one of United's Premier League matches this season but has struggled for form alongside new club captain Harry Maguire.

Possible United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Shaw, Williams, Matic, Fred, Greenwood, Mata, James, Martial
