Why is Good Morning Britain not on TV and when will it return? Full guide revealed

Good Morning Britain is usually the go-to show to watch every morning while getting ready for work and/or the day.

The morning breakfast TV show is usually hosted by Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, Adil Ray and more.

However, like with many things, the festive season meant a change in the schedule.

ITV bosses have pulled the flagship show off air between Christmas and New Year's to the confusion of some viewers.

It was meant to return to our screens today but, due to Covid fears, bosses decided to delay the return a little more.

A spokeswoman confirmed: “GMB was due to be on air from Weds 29th - Fri 31st December 2021 but due to the pandemic and to protect our teams, we have decided to give them an extended break.

“GMB will not broadcast next week, but will be back on air on Tues 4th Jan 2022 .”

Good Morning Britain will return in the New Year (ITV)

Those who are used to watching the debates and quips of the TV presenters each morning will have to wait another week.

Good Morning Britain will next be on air on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, as the day before is a bank holiday.

The show usually airs at 6am on weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub.

There has not been a confirmation as to who will be the main presenter in the New Year.

It comes as Richard Madeley landed a £300,000 deal to permanently present Good Morning Britain.

However, his reps have denied the claims that he will be replacing Piers Morgan following his dramatic departure earlier this year.

The 65-year-old has frequently joined Susanna as a guest presenter on the ITV show. His rep told the Mirror that Richard was still part of the current set-up as a revolving presenter on the show.

Meanwhile, broadcasting regulator Ofcom recently revealed which programmes were the most complained-about this year.

And, unsurprisingly, Good Morning Britain was top of the list.

The most complained about show of the year was GMB's episode which aired on March 8.

There were 54,595 complaints about this instalment of the ITV series, which focused heavily on the interview between Oprah Winfrey and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

GMB was being hosted by Piers and Susanna on that particular day, and the following day Piers announced that he was quitting his role as presenter.
