Why is BBC EastEnders taken off air tonight along with ITV's Emmerdale and Coronation Street?

BBC EastEnders has been cancelled on Tuesday, March 1 together with ITV's Emmerdale and Coronation Street due to FA Cup football across BBC and ITV.

Instead of Emmerdale, ITV1 will air live FA Cup action. And on BBC One, it is exactly the same.

FA Cup action begins at 6.45pm on ITV1, and 7.30pm on BBC One. The Beeb is airing Middlesbrough versus Tottenham.

Boro are looking to take another big scalp after eliminating Manchester United on penalties at Old Trafford in the previous round. Gary Lineker presents all the action from the fifth-round tie at Riverside Stadium.

ITV is airing Peterborough United taking on Manchester City. Laura Woods presents all the action from the fifth-round tie at Weston Homes Stadium.

With analysis from Roy Keane and Joe Cole, commentary by Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon, and reports from Gabriel Clarke. Kick off is at 7.15pm.

Kick off from Middlesbrough comes at 7.55pm. Spurs are aiming to win this trophy for the ninth time, but the first since 1991 after overcoming Brighton & Hove Albion at home in round four.

Man City eased past Fulham 4-1 in round four and are the favourites to lift the trophy. ITV Emmerdale returns later in the week, as well as BBC EastEnders which is back on Thursday, March 3 at 7.30pm on BBC1.
