Andrea McLean has confirmed she is leaving the UK after enduring a turbulent few years marked by health struggles, financial loss, and emotional burnout. The former Loose Women presenter shared her decision in a heartfelt announcement, describing her recent experiences as a 'shocker' that changed her outlook on life.

Health Crisis That Nearly Claimed Her Life

Earlier this year, Andrea was hospitalised with a severe case of pneumonia and sepsis. She revealed that doctors told her she was just '24 hours from death' had she not sought immediate treatment.

In an emotional update, as reported by the Mirror, she said: 'I didn't realise how severe my illness was at the time. But the doctors had told my husband, Nick, that had I not got to hospital when I did, had we waited another 24 hours to call for help, I may not be here now.'

The life-threatening health scare forced the 55-year-old to reassess her lifestyle and prompted a deep reflection on her mental and physical well-being.

Business Collapse and Emotional Burnout

In 2020, Andrea stepped down from her role on Loose Women to launch her own empowerment brand This Girl Is On Fire, which aimed to support women through midlife changes. She invested heavily in the venture, even selling her Surrey home to fund it.

However, the business closed in early 2025, leaving only £292 in its final accounts. The financial and emotional toll of the brand's collapse was immense.

Speaking about the failure, she shared: 'I've had a bit of a shocker over the last few years, not only health wise but obviously my business failing.'

The combination of business loss, public pressure, and declining health eventually led to emotional exhaustion and burnout.

A Fresh Start in Spain

McLean and her husband Nick Feeney have decided to move to Spain for a much-needed fresh start. She described the decision as a 'leap of faith,' adding that the move is about choosing peace and a slower pace of life.

'Those of you who know me, I've always wanted to live by the sea and in the sun, and so that's what we're doing.' she said in an Instagram reel. 'The timing, of course, is not perfect, timing isn't always perfect. There's never a perfect moment. But what I realised at the start of this year is you don't know how many moments you might have left. You have to seize them'

She plans to spend more time paddleboarding, writing, and focusing on wellness in a sunnier, quieter environment. The couple hopes the move will provide the space to recharge and reflect.

Looking Ahead: Books, Coaching, and Balance

Although she is stepping away from UK media, Andrea is not slowing down creatively. She plans to continue her work as a life coach and author. Her bestselling books, including Confessions of a Menopausal Woman and This Girl Is On Fire, have helped women navigate midlife challenges with honesty and humour.

With her children now grown and independent, Andrea says her focus will be on balance, happiness and family.
