Why 'heavy duty' tracks were put down on Nottinghamshire park during lockdown

The reason for heavy duty tracks being laid on Nottinghamshire park land has been revealed.

Readers contacted Nottinghamshire Live about "heavy duty" wooden pallets that had been put down on grass at Manor Park, Manor Farm recreation ground in Toton.

The access point is off Nottingham Road/the A6005 right on the Nottingham/Derby border.

Broxtowe Borough Council revealed that the track has been put down by electricity company Western Power Distribution so it can so some cable installation works.

A spokesperson for the authority added: "This is work that Western Power Distribution are doing.

"The track is to gain access to a location on the park where they need to do some cable installation works. This has all been agreed with the council.

"The ground will be fully reinstated after. Now is an ideal time to do it with the park being quiet and no football on due to the Government’s stay at home guidance."
