Why firefighters were called after steam was seen rising above Nottingham building

Firefighters have revealed why a large amount of steam was seen rising above a Nottingham building.

Crews from London Road and Stockhill fire stations were called to an incident in London Road on Friday, February 21 at around 5.15pm.

The steam rising above the building turned out to be from a blown turbo from a vehicle which Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service called a "false alarm".

A tweet from the fire service added: "17:17hrs #LondonRoadStn03 and #StockhillStn20 attended an incident on London Road, Nottingham.

"This was a false alarm caused by a blown turbo. There may be a large amount of steam in the area for some time."

A turbo is a device designed to boost engine power for vehicles.
