England v Mexico World Cup clash to keep original kick-off time

  • England 's World Cup 2026 last-16 match against Mexico will retain its original kick-off time of 6pm local time on Sunday (1am BST on Monday).
  • Media reports had initially suggested the game would be brought forward by six hours to avoid potential storms in Mexico City .

  • Much has been made of England’s challenge of adapting to the higher altitude in Mexico, and they may now have less time to prepare for Sunday’s game if the kick-off is brought forward.
  • Only one match has been significantly affected by the weather at the World Cup so far, as there was a two-hour delay to the second half of France’s group match with Iraq due to thunder and lightning in the New York area.
