Newcastle United's marquee signing of the January transfer window - Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes - was announced this afternoon as the Magpies finally completed the deal for a fee which could be worth up to €50million.
The Brazil international will take the number 39 shirt at St James' Park, as he did at Lyon.
This is a tribute to his Father, who is a taxi driver and carries the same number on his car. Guimaraes is said to be very close to his family and keeps in regular contact with them despite his career taking him to Europe.

Before the move to St James' Park was agreed, Guimaraes was expected to leave Lyon in the near future but he was earmarked for a move to a Champions League club as he is highly rated as an all-round midfielder both capable of winning the ball often as well as creating chances for his teammates.
As such, this deal is seen as a real coup for the Magpies and is very much the 'statement signing' of the new ownership.
Rather than moving to play in the Champions League, he will be part of leading the club's new ambitious future as they hope to not only secure Premier League status for next season but then climb the table and make their own bid for Champions League qualification in the future.
Guimaraes has played three times for the senior Brazil side and won the Olympic gold medal with his country this summer as he represented the Brazilian U23 team.
