The Apprentice reached its semi-final week on Thursday as the final four candidates were put to the test to see whether they would make it through to the final episode. Now just two remain and have the chance to become Lord Sugar's business partner.

The Apprentice semi-final is known as the interview episode. Typically there are five people in this episode but this year, history was made as there were four females in the semi-final show.

The ending of this interview episode saw two firings, leaving two contestants up for running in the final next week. The interview panel included the return of Claud Litner, as well as three other interviewers to aid Alan Sugar in his decision of who should go through to the finale. Who was fired on The Apprentice and who is in the final two?

Thursday’s episode of The Apprentice saw two candidates fired - Stephanie Affleck and Brittany Carter. This leaves Kathryn Louise Burn and Harpreet Kaur in the running to become Lord Sugar’s next business partner in the final next week.

What were The Final Four’s business plans?

In the interview episode, each candidate was interviewed by four of Alan Sugar’s aides as they run through their business plans and dissected whether it was a viable business.

Brittany Carter’s business plan was to launch an alcoholic protein drink under the name Maintain the Gain. This business idea was inspired by Brittany’s passion for fitness and partying. However, unfortunately for Brittany, her business plan was not enough to impress Alan Sugar and his aides. Mike Soutar in particular was not impressed with the taste of the drink formula. Alan Sugar felt she lacked experience in drink-making too, considering she has an impressive career in hotel management.

Harpreet Kaur made it through to the final as she proposed her business plan to expand her dessert parlour business. However, Alan Sugar and his aides were surprised to find out that Harpreet’s sister actually owns 50% of the business, which is unusual as The Apprentice is about investing in an individual.

Stephanie Affleck’s business plan is to grow her online children's store business which prioritises authentication of designer brands. Viewers got to see a more personable side to Stephanie as she shed tears when speaking about her dad who she mentioned as an inspiration to her in her business. However, there were notes from the interviewers that her business maybe perhaps too niche, which is what led to her leaving the show this week.

Kathryn Louise Burn’s business plan is to develop her online matching pyjama store for the whole family- including pets. Claude in particular referenced the ambitious plans Kathryn had to grow the business into a particular figure. However, despite this, Lord Sugar was impressed enough to send her to the final.
