Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Prue Leith loses £48,000 after risky move fails

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire saw Bake Off judge Prue Leith lose £48,000 tonight after a risky move didn't pay off.

Prue, 80, was playing for charity Chefs for Schools and stormed through the questions telling host Jeremy Clarkson she wanted to get her time in the chair over as soon as possible.

Prue made some bold decisions which paid off and soon she was facing the £64,000 question, having set her safety net at £16,000.

But when it came to a question about which crew member of the Titanic survived the disaster Prue came unstuck.

She said she had no idea and said she had watched the film and couldn't remember.

Prue called her nephew Sam who also had no idea and she was forced to use her 50:50 lifeline.

Prue quickly went for Captain Edward Smith, but in fact it was in fact Charles Lightoller.

Jeremy Clarkson said: "So that was a bit of a disaster"

Prue agreed and said: "Oh well"

But viewers at home were left in disbelief, with many of them pointing out that the captain often goes down with his ship.

Jen White said: "Doesnt Prue know the rule of the captain goes down with the ship?"

Rob Jones said: "Expected Prue to get that ... after all everyone knows the Captain didn’t survive, goes down with his ship. Sounded so confident too. Wrong to guess though, cost the charity a lot of money."

Phillip Scott said: "Can’t believe that Pru said the Captain of the Titanic survived!!! I thought that was astonishingly easy as 50/50’s go."

And Dean Pullen said: "What?! Thought everyone knew the captain went down with the ship?"
