Who plays Caleb in Emmerdale? Actor Will Ash's life off air from famous Corrie star cousin to relationship status

They are Emmerdale's most famous family and their clan has just got even bigger after Christmas Day saw the arrival of Cain Dingle's long lost brother, Caleb Milligan.

During the special hour long episode, Caleb made his debut appearance, after Cain kept his existence from the rest of the Dingle family a secret for decades.

In recent scenes Caleb decided to confront Chas despite Cain warning him to stay away. Cain has known about Caleb but decided to keep his existence a secret from Chas for 30 years. Caleb Was born in prison while Faith was serving a sentence.

Knowing that Caleb will tell Chas the truth, Cain decided to tell his wife Moira everything when she visited him in prison, before she found out from someone else.

Viewers were later given an insight into Caleb’s upbringing as well as a glimpse of young Cain and Chas with a series of flashback scene.

In the flashback scene we saw how young Caleb and young Cain meet as well as how they started to form a relationship. After spending a few days bonding with Caleb Cain was on the verge of introducing him to Chas however the plan fell through as he discovered that she became pregnant with son Aaron.

And Chas isn't the only one bamboozled by the new arrival. Caleb's shock appearance in the village has left viewers wondering why Cain kept Caleb a secret for so long as they are convinced there is more to be revealed.

The new Dingle has certainly sparked some fan theories, with some suggesting that there could be a new murder plot on the horizon, with others suggesting a potential affair could throw a spanner in the mix.

But how much do we know about actor Will Ash who is playing Caleb and where do we recognise him from?

Eagle-eyed Emmerdale fans will likely recognise the new addition to the village as Corrie's Spike. Acclaimed actor, Will Ash, has joined the Dingle family, playing Caleb Miligan, a well connected, successful businessman.

Will has a variety of other television and film credits, most notably playing the roles of Christopher Mead in Waterloo Road and Steve Robinson in Clocking Off, as well as appearing in Doctor Who, Heartbeat, Casualty and Where the Heart Is.

Shameless, Children's Ward, Soldier Soldier, Scott & Bailey, Inspector George Gently, Vera, Father Brown, Moving On and Silent Witness roles are also listed in his credentials.

Will's childhood friendship with Jeff Hordley

Will has previously spoken of his exciting to appear alongside childhood friend Jeff Hordley - who plays Cain Dingle.

Speaking during a press event, when asked about what appealed to him about joining Emmerdale, Will answered: "I knew that I’d be working a lot with Jeff. That was a massive draw. Not to put anything down but it is work and it is nice to be working. A lot of the time you spend out of work as an actor. You spend a lot of time, as an actor, out of work so to do what I like doing every single day is amazing really. The main thing though was working with Jeff and the scripts are amazing.”

Emmerdale legend Jeff, 52, is pleased to welcome his childhood friend to the show. Jeff said: “The character (Caleb) is written so well and he’s got a charm which WIll brings across really beautifully.”

Will Ash's personal life

Much like many actors, Will Ash keeps his personal and love life private. The 45-year-old has two children and lives in Greater Manchester. It is not known if he is married or currently in a relationship.

His second cousin is fellow actor Peter Ash, who has starred in Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Footballers Wives.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
