Who left Strictly? James Cracknell is first celebrity to be eliminated

James Cracknell became the first celebrity to be kicked off Strictly Come Dancing 2019 this evening.

The Olympic rower, 47, waved farewell to the BBC dancing competition tonight after failing to wow the judges with their Jive on Week One and Tango from Week Two.

James and partner Luba Mushtuk landed in the bottom two with fellow sportsman David James and Nadiya Bychkova.

David and Nadiya performed their Paso Doble to Spanish Gypsy by Espana Cani while James and Luba danced their Jive to Little Richard's Tutti Frutti.

Afterwards, the judges had to vote and they all decided to save David and Nadiya.

Craig Revel Horwood said: "Well for me in that dance off one couple improved beyond compare and that couple is the couple I would like to save, David and Nadiya."

"I felt a stronger performance, a stronger intention, clearer actions. I’m going to save David," Motsi said.

Bruno also chose to save David and Nadiya, saying: "I have to save the couple that really showed to me how you apply and you work on the comments of the judges and deliver a performance that is almost night and day from one day to the other. David and Nadiya."

Shirley confirmed that she would have also saved the couple.

Speaking afterwards, James said that he enjoyed the last few days of training as he finally got to grips with the steps and began to enjoy it.

"I’m enjoying it anyway, the luxury of being with someone so good and learning off them," he said. "I’m a way better dancer than I was two weeks ago. Luba’s been amazing with being so patient with a couple of left feet."

Luba branded James "inspirational" and said that she hoped he would inspire other people to dance.

She said: "I would like to say a huge thank you with all my heart to make this journey so amazing. You inspired me every day and I hope you inspire many more other people to start dancing."
