Who is This Morning presenter Craig Doyle?

Craig Doyle joined Holly Willoughby to present This Morning in the wake of Phillip Schofield's departure.

Ahead of his appearance yesterday, Doyle defended both Willoughby and the show.

He said: “Delighted to join the wonderful Holly on the sofa later this week. The show has been a joy to work on with one of the hardest-working and talented teams I know. See you Wednesday.”

Doyle's remarks follow claims that the show has a “toxic” work atmosphere.

The Irish television host served as co-host for the programme yesterday and today, and has been mentioned as a possible permanent replacement, but ITV is yet to announce any long-term choices.

But who is Craig Doyle? Here’s everything you need to know.

In an Instagram post the day before the show — shared by Hammond — Doyle said: “So excited about hosting This Morning tomorrow; I have arrived 14 hours early for work!”

It was also revealed that O’Leary, who is Hammond’s’s regular co-host, would be given a day off.

Where has Craig Doyle previously worked?

Doyle started his broadcast career at BBC Local Radio as a reporter and producer, and has since presented BBC Radio 5 Live, Midweek on Radio 4, and the weekend morning programme on Capital Radio.

Alongside this, he has also presented a number of BBC shows, appearing on The Holiday Programme, as well as the tech show Tomorrow’s World.

He’s also well-known for his work in sport, having appeared on Six Nations Rugby, the Athens Olympics, Wimbledon, and Grandstand for the channel.

Doyle also presented the ESAT Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin, sponsored by BT Ireland in 2005.

He is prominent in the UK, fronting adverts for double-glazing company Everest Windows. In Ireland, he is the face of the UPC cable service adverts, as well as Littlewoods Ireland.
