Why was The Skin Doctor arrested?
Neelam Singh was arrested for allegedly posting objectionable posts against the late Sunjay Kapur's family. In a now-deleted tweet, the influencer alleged that the time of the late industrialist’s death was suspicious and raised questions about his will. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani said he was granted bail within five hours at 10 pm on Wednesday.
"A prominent influencer, @theskindoctor13, was arrested by the Delhi Police today on a baseless and frivolous case. When the night magistrate gave him bail within 5 hours at 10 PM tonight, it was made clear by the honorable court that he did not do anything wrong.
Advocate @RaviSharmaTalks ably assisted by @sidcool2302 appeared on behalf of the influencer. Sources say that the Delhi Police was pulled up by the court and asked who pressured them to carry out the arrest.
The case has no legal grounds, none whatsoever. But there is more to this than what meets the eye. Why was he arrested in such haste? Who ordered his arrest? More questions will be asked and more answers will come out soon," his tweet read on X.
Sunjay Kapur death controversy
Sunjay Kapur, chairman of auto components firm Sona Comstar and former husband of Karisma Kapoor, died in London on June 12 while playing polo. Medical reports later concluded that his death was natural and caused by cardiac conditions, including Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Ischaemic Heart Disease.
However, the case later became controversial after his mother, Rani Kapur, sought a criminal investigation in the United Kingdom, alleging “unexplained circumstances” surrounding his death. She also raised concerns related to the family business and inheritance issues.
Sunjay Kapur married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple divorced in 2016. They share two children together. Following their separation, he married Priya Sachdev.
After his death, a dispute over his estate reportedly emerged within the family. Karisma Kapoor’s children later approached the Delhi High Court seeking their alleged rightful share in their late father’s assets and filed legal proceedings against Priya Sachdev.
