Who is the mystery poet behind Megan Fox's new tattoo?

Shakespeare quotations, Taoist symbols and Marilyn Monroe: Megan Fox's motley collection of tattoos has always raised eyebrows. But the latest addition to the Transformers star's torso has left celeb-spotters in a state of confusion.

The new tattoo, which snakes down her right flank from the back of her rib-cage to the tip of the hip, states: "Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music." Enigmatic, to say the least. But if the line itself is cryptic, its author is even more of a mystery. Tabloid reports suggest that it's the work of a little-known poet called Angela Monet, and a quick Google search confirms as much. Thing is, though, Monet doesn't appear to exist.

Staff at the Poetry Society have never heard of her, while Chris McCabe, head librarian at the Poetry Library, says, "There's no record of her in the library's database." He does, however, have another theory. "It's possible that an Angela Monet uploaded the quotation to a quotes website, and it subsequently was mistakenly attributed to her. I've seen that happen quite a lot." Some think the line is an inspired reworking of a verse from the 13th-century Sufi mystic Rumi: "We rarely hear the inward music but we're all dancing to it nevertheless." McCabe, meanwhile, has another lead: "It actually sounds like it's from Nietzsche." But Dr Christopher Hamilton, a lecturer at King's College London and a Nietzsche expert, disagrees: "I don't recall reading it in Nietzsche. And it doesn't even sound much like Nietzsche to me." The mystery deepens.
