Who is Manchester United's greatest number 7 - you decide

The number 7 holds a very special status at Manchester United.

The players who have worn the number on the back of the famous Red shirt reads like a who's who of the greats of world football.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo 's return to Old Trafford, as he dons the no 7 for a second stint, it has got fans asking a big question - who has been United 's greatest-ever number 7?

We've created (with difficulty) a shortlist, and we want you to vote for the player who deserves the accolade.

Here are the nominations, in no particular order:

Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the greatest footballers of all time, and now back in the number 7 shirt at United following a trophy-laden first spell which saw him win three league titles with United, an FA Cup and a Champions League.

He also claimed the winning the PFA Young Player Award, the main prize and also the Football Writers’ Award – the first player to do so. A Ballon d’Or came next, following in the footsteps of another famous United number seven ...

George Best

(PA)

The man every United number seven is judged against, a true great of the world game that sadly never got to play on the biggest stage at a World Cup.

Scored in United's extra-time win over Benfica in the 1968 European Cup final, and capped the year winning by UEFA's Ballon d'Or.

Eric Cantona

King Eric was a snip at just £1.2m from Leeds in 1992. He led United to four Premier League titles in five years and inspired a generation of collar-popping kids.

Notorious for that incident at Selhurst Park, but famed for that chip against Sunderland in 1996, capable of almost anything with the ball at his feet.

Bryan Robson

Captain Marvel became the first United man to lift the FA Cup three times with the 1990 win.

The complete player, Robson was a driving force in United's early success under Sir Alex but was not a regular during his two title-winning seasons as Fergie crafted his first great team.

David Beckham

Many fans forget just how good David Beckham was (Mike Hewitt /Allsport)

He may have left under a cloud in 2003 as Fergie questioned his superstar lifestyle, but Becks is one of few players to do the famed United number seven shirt justice.

Famous for that goal at Selhurst Park from the halfway line, Beckham's delivery struck terror into the hearts of keepers and defenders alike for ten years.
